FFL: Week 2 Recap
A week ago, ThatsMyBoyeee had the lowest score in the league. This week, a win and the third-highest total. Who doesn't love a turnaround like that? Especially while we’re all still deciding whether we drafted a great team or made a series of terrible decisions. If you’re having doubts about yours, keep this one handy. A lot can change before the next recap.
Sales Division
Sales has reached the part of the season where “I like my team” and “I hate this game” can both be entirely reasonable things to say.
Missed it by THAT much 219.26, The Potassium Powerhouses 173.92. The Powerhouses have now drawn back-to-back 200-point opponents. That’s how you end up 0-2 with a team I’d happily take into next week. Nothing wrong with this roster. But it would benefit if the schedule stopped introducing it to everybody’s best day.
ThatsMyBoyeee 176.88, Mid Atlantic Menace 159.68. The trouble with a great comeback story is that somebody has to lose to it. The Menace outscored half of this week’s winners and fell to 0-2. I am delighted about the turnaround at the top of this column. I would also understand wanting to skip that paragraph. Another lesson on perspective.
ThatsMYPurseIDKYou91 130.8, Never Gibbs Up 113.68. Davante Adams delivered the Monday-night rescue, and the unbeaten start survives. Across the matchup, Jalen Hurts spent another productive week on the bench. Those lineup calls always look easier on Tuesday.
Accounting Division
Accounting still has three unbeaten teams. The reigning champ is among them, which feels like something the rest of us should be paying attention to.
Kevin Malone 207.06, MHartell 132.52. Josh Allen supplied 47.82, and the reward was the biggest loss of the week. Both managers who started Allen lost. Getting a monster day from your quarterback should at least buy you the fun of being in it. If you closed the app early, I’m with you. The robot can celebrate by itself.
SBrooks27 138.88, MarginVictory 118.28. Starting Brock Purdy over Lamar Jackson worked, and the reigning champ is 2-0. For MarginVictory, enough points sat on the bench to flip the result. We’ve all found the winning lineup a little later than we would have liked.
GreatLakesBob 135.62, blountchase 96.8. The preseason board put this team last. Now: 2-0 and fifth on the board. The moral of the story: enjoy the preseason rankings, then enjoy proving them wrong. For the other side, a week with the kicker as the leading scorer calls for a little kindness. We’ve all needed the next matchup to arrive.
This week I'd like to close the recap with something to bring us all together. As you may or may not be aware, Kevin Malone leads the entire league in points. I know it’s only been two weeks.
